To get my foot in the door of the writing world, I started ghostwriting right out of college. In my years as a full-time writer, I covered health news in my community, addressed political unrest in the United States, and created advertising content for home and garden manufacturers.
As the lead reporter for a small-town Iowa newspaper, I held the responsibility of doing all edits of my own content, as well as community submissions and design changes before printing. In my current role, I've accepted all opportunities to proofread and review internal documents and client communications.
One of the biggest rules of journalism is to cover all your bases by making sure you fact check, fact check, fact check. While none of east central Iowa's news has been necessarily groundbreaking, I've done extensive historical research for various featured pieces.
